Last week, the Austin Fit team attended the Lost Pines Nursery Benefit Dinner at the enthralling Barr Mansion. Christian Dake, co-owner of the nursery, walked us through the dinner with botanical insight into the local plants used for each dish. The food featured items grown in the nursery and from the surrounding gardens at Barr. We even got to taste plants straight from the stem that were laid out as interactive decor along the tables.
The four-course plated dinner included Napa Valley and local wine tastings with each course. Music by by B.R. Lively accompanied the fresh and surprising dishes. Proceeds from the event went directly to the revitalization of Lost Pines Nursery. Attendees took home tomato plants grown in the Lost Pines Nursery, and editor Liz Harroun says hers has already established roots in her community plot.
We are grateful to be a part the growing community of botany and sustainable agricultural activists here in Austin! Be sure to check out Lost Pines Nursery for spring garden needs!
