AUSTIN, Texas—The first thing you might notice when you walk into Korrect Fitness, a 10,000-square foot functional fitness training center in South Austin located just off Interstate 35 in a cream-colored industrial park, is the artwork.

In the entrance lounge. The hallways. On the piping in the sports performance area. One walkway’s walls are completely covered in murals, while another section features an “infinity mirror” recessed into the wall. Years ago, Korrect Fitness general manager Larry Maloney said he was asked to help shape the gym’s visual identity—back when it was known as Onnit. He hired an artist from Portland, Oregon to create bespoke pieces that seemed to leap out at you.

“I think we wanted to have something that inspires you but also something that looks interesting when you walk through it,” said Maloney, now the Chief Operating Officer and general manager. “My thought process was like this: ‘I would like to have something that’s kind of like the Meow Wolf of gyms. It’s like, you walk in, ‘Oh, this is cool. Oh, this is different.’”

When it came to sports performance and training programs, the gym also scored high marks there, too. Long known as a place that embraced hard things—such as training on unconventional pieces of equipment—Korrect Fitness has always been a place where you can morph into a fully-fledged athlete. It features small group training, private 1-on-1 work, and even a smoothie bar and cafe. It continues to grow its membership base annually and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.

Best yet, this year the gym also earned two honors in Austin Fit Magazine’s annual Best of 2025, including recognition as being one of the city’s “best Hyrox gyms” and having the “hardest workout in Austin,” earning third-place finishes in each category.

What’s The History Of Korrect Fitness?

In June, the gym formerly known as Onnit transitioned to Korrect Fitness, with co-owner Aubrey Marcus explaining that the switch was to embrace community and “to keep the best of everything that was, and correct just those small pieces that make it even better.”

Mostly, the name change came with the evolving idea of the gym. “For a long time, there was an intimidating aspect to the gym where people sometimes said, ‘Oh Korrect, that’s where all those beast athletes are,’” said Maloney, who’s worked with Korrect Fitness for seven years. “We’ve been working very hard over the years to change that, to make it more accepting of anyone who wants to come in and do the work.”

That thought is exemplified by the gym’s growing membership, which now stands at over 800. And perhaps for individuals like Jake Balderrama, who has transformed his life from efforts made at Korrect Fitness. “He’s someone who came in and became very ingrained in our community,” Maloney said.

On top of that, Korrect has been smart to follow emerging fitness trends like Hyrox.

Roughly three years ago, as the rush to understand the discipline began to grow across the U.S. and globally, Korrect’s model for functional training became an extension of the sport’s simplistic ideas. “It was something we were already doing before,” Maloney said. “People were like, ‘Oh, this seems like the place to train.’ So now we lean more into that side of things, because it’s a part of what we’ve always been doing.”

Korrect Fitness quickly became a Hyrox-affliated gym and now holds practice competitions tailored to the event. Recently, the gym held a simulation event ahead of the Hyrox Dallas event in November.

What Is Korrect Fitness Known For?

At its core, Korrect Fitness centers around functional training at a variety of levels: small group training, open gyms and private sessions. The gym employs 40 staff members, with 15 athletic trainers focusing on specific areas of expertise. Priorities include mobility, breath work and even glutes. Yes, glutes. “It’s very popular right now to have a specialty offering like that,” Maloney said.

Gym goers can seeks offerings around stability, endurance, and even grip strength. The spaces include open gym areas, mobility rooms, a sports performance room and an outdoor space with various equipment.

Each trainer, Maloney said, passes specific assessments ensured by Korrect Fitness. “It’s a coaches standard,” he said. “We have 10 standards. All our coaches have to hit seven of those standards and be adept in all of those functions.”

In recent years, Korrect Fitness has also updated its customer offering, from cold plunges to adding an outdoor space with professional grade sprint turf and multi-use rigs.

Members can use barbells, kettlebells, steel maces and even functional machines.

Are There Any Special Programs Or Events At Korrect Fitness?

The Austin-based gym has been an innovator in this space, often forming pop-up events based around existing ideas that members call for.

One among them has been the Hyrox simulations. But Korrect is also developing a new event, Maloney said, that is yet to be named. “We host a couple of competitions,” he said. “But next year, we’re going to put together our very own specific competition.”

Who Goes To Korrect Fitness?

Korrect Fitness, Maloney say, is meant for anyone who’s dedicated to improving their life and health in a meaningful way. Maloney himself is a certified personal trainer. Professionally, he began on the ground floor at the gym, starting with customer service. He’s now the COO and GM.

With an array of specialists with experience in small group training and private training, Korrect Fitness has become a place to answer almost any question. Value-adds include a smoothie-bar, wellness products, and two full-sized locker rooms. Members can also use a sauna and cold plunges.

What Kind Of Memberships Does Korrect Fitness Offer?

Korrect offers three membership tiers (core, essential and optimized) which are tailored to the specific needs of any customer. In 2026, Korrect is also offering a 3-month and get-4 discount, where you pay for three months and get the fourth month free.
