#ATX Olympics Update

We’re coming up on 1 week of Olympic games and Austin athletes have been representing well! Check out some of the highlights of our ATX athletes thus far and make sure to follow those who are yet to compete!

Micah Lawrence of Pflugerville has made it to the finals for the Women’s Swimming 200m Breaststroke. Watch her today at 1:40 pm, she’ll be in lane 7!

Austin’s Kathleen Hersey just missed a medal in yesterday’s Women’s Swimming 200m Butterfly by .3 seconds! @kathleenhersey

Brendan Hansen has made Austin proud by placing 3rd in the Men’s Swimming 100m Breaststroke. Watch him tomorrow at 5:49 am in the qualifying heat for the Men’s Swimming 4x100m Medley Relay. @BrendanHansen22

Previous UT athlete Ricky Berens is making waves in the Men’s Swimming events. He made it all the way to the Semifinals in the Men’s 200m Freestyle, helped the Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay place 2nd overall by being part of the qualifying team and was a part of the Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay team (along with Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps) which placed 1st overall! @RickyBerens

UT’s James Feigen was another member of the Men’s Swimming 4x100m Freestyle Relay qualifying team, helping the U.S. win that silver medal!

Austin’s Troy Dumais made us all proud yesterday in the Men’s Synchronized 3m Springboard by snagging a bronze in the event, along with California’s Kristian Ipsen. Watch him Monday at 1 pm as he competes in the preliminary round of the individual Men’s 3m Springboard.

Destinee Hooker and Kevin Durant, both previous athletes at UT, have been doing their part in Men’s Basketball and Women’s Volleyball. Both sports are still in the qualification rounds, but we’ll be updating everyone on their progress – Hook ’em! @KDTrey5

Our  ATX athletes are kicking some serious butt and we aren’t even halfway through this year’s Olympic Games! Tomorrow marks the beginning of Track and Field events. Check out all of the athletes below who will be representing Austin (and/or their alma mater UT) throughout the events and remainder of the Olympics:
