I Live Here I Give Here Leads Central Texas #GIVINGTUESDAYNOW Initiative

By AFM Team – April 28, 2020

Local nonprofit I Live Here I Give Here is calling upon the community to come together to give on #GivingTuesdayNow next Tuesday, May 5, and is offering matching dollars from its own reserve fund to amplify donors’ gifts to local nonprofits. #GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity organized as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. The day is designed to drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.

For the Central Texas campaign, I Live Here I Give Here aims to build up dependable, unrestricted funds that will allow local nonprofits to be nimble and proactive by encouraging recurring gifts, which can now be scheduled for a nonprofit organization of choice at AmplifyATX.org. According to Mission Capital’s recent Nonprofit Pulse Survey, for which I Live Here I Give Here served as a partner, flexible and immediate funding was the number one need identified by 458 Central Texas nonprofit leaders. I Live Here I Give Here is offering $10,000 in funds to inspire generosity and amplify donations made to its 760 nonprofit members through AmplifyATX.org. Similar to the organization’s Amplify Austin Day Golden Tickets, twenty donors will be selected randomly throughout the 24-hour period and will receive the opportunity to direct $250 each to one charity of their choice.

Community members are also encouraged to show their generosity in a variety of ways such as writing notes to nursing home residents, chalking their driveway with a positive message for neighbors, helping fulfill a nonprofit wishlist by ordering supplies, sharing their personal giving stories on social media to inspire others and more.

As part of #GivingTuesdayNow and its ongoing COVID-19 response efforts, I Live Here I Give Here has also scheduled its signature mentorship program for emerging philanthropists, See Us Give (formerly See Jane Give and Give Back Jack), to take place virtually on May 5 to inspire deeper philanthropic engagement. Approximately 300 attendees will hear from established philanthropists across the community and take part in breakout discussions with mentors to learn how to incorporate philanthropy as a key component of their personal and professional lives.
