Sounds like the start of a bad joke, right? Except for one of my customers, Megan, it wasn’t. She literally called me her “clean-up chiropractor.” She’d only come in when the other chiropractor couldn’t figure out what was going on.
She’d been seeing another chiropractor for years. Every two weeks, she’d get the same adjustment. And every two weeks, the same pain would come back a couple of days later—TMJ tightness, jaw pain, muscle tension—like clockwork. Same lightbulb. Same flicker. No one thought to check the wiring because traditional chiropractors aren’t checking the wiring.
For years, many clients have told me how they only get relief for a couple of days after each adjustment they get. They normalize the recurring symptoms between maintenance visits and chalk it up to getting older or not stretching enough. Just like Paul, who recently flew in from out of state to see us to help find answers to his recurring symptoms.
In Paul’s review, he wrote:
“Unlike traditional chiropractic care I’ve experienced, Dr. Matt (and Lifespring) treated areas beyond where I felt pain, targeting root causes throughout my body. Most remarkably, the adjustments are still effective a week later (at the time of leaving the review), while previous treatments typically lasted only 48 hours.”
Just like Paul and countless others we’ve seen, Megan, who was experiencing TMJ pain, walked into my office frustrated and, honestly, a little defeated. This wasn’t just a physical issue. It was leaking into everything. Her work, her sleep, her hobbies, her relationships. She’d done all the “right” things. Got adjusted, stretched, and managed pain. But nothing lasted.
Instead of diving into treatment, I asked her a series of questions like: “What’s been going on in your life lately?” It wasn’t obvious at first, but then she paused, thought about it, and finally said it out loud.
Four straight months of high-pressure work stress.
The kind that doesn’t just live in your mind but settles into your muscles, your gut, your sleep. The kind that doesn’t ask for permission. It just takes over. Like the jaw tension that leaves you miserable at your desk, robbing your focus on work calls. Or the knots in your shoulders that make you feel like you need a deep tissue massage daily.
I knew that kind of stress. I’d lived it.
Years ago, in my own burnout spiral, my body started glitching in ways I couldn’t explain. Fatigue. Brain fog. Random aches and pains. I chalked it up to being tired, when in reality, it was an autoimmune diagnosis triggered by years of stress and limited sleep.
This is a common narrative we see more and more in our 25–45 fitness community. Burnout, stress, and serious health concerns, even though they look completely healthy on the outside. Something we call the illusion of health.
Hearing more about what was going on in Megan’s life helped us understand what was happening beneath the surface. We ran her through our INSiGHT nervous system scans- our version of a body blueprint. This isn’t just about bones or muscles. It’s about how well the brain and body are communicating.
Her scans lit up. Her nervous system was in overdrive, trying to hold everything together. Imbalance from months of stress and sleepless nights. She wasn’t broken. She was fried. The jaw wasn’t the real issue. It was just the loudest symptom.
Below is one of the three scans we do. This one shows us the neuro-muscular branch. The connection between the brain and the muscles. When out of balance, aka a wiring problem, we see downstream symptoms of muscle tightness, limited motion, and pain.
As we looked deeper, we found other light bulbs flickering, too- things she hadn’t realized were connected. Mid-afternoon energy crashes. Digestive issues. Tossing and turning all night. Anxiety sneaking in and stealing her calm.
Each symptom seemed isolated, but they weren’t. And when these symptoms progress, people tend to get caught in what we call the specialist shuffle- seeing a different doctor for each problem, each with their own prescription or supplement plan. But in reality, these symptoms often stem from the same root issue: nervous system imbalance. And when the wiring’s off, the whole system starts glitching.
Here’s what many of our customers say their previous chiropractic care was missing. Yes, the cracking and popping feel great at first, and reducing muscle tightness can feel good—for a little while. But many times, there are deeper issues.
It’s like replacing the lightbulb in a house with faulty wiring. Sooner or later, the bulb burns out again. And again. And again.
When your nervous system is off, your brain sends scrambled messages. Muscles tighten. The gut slows down. Sleep gets choppy. And pain doesn’t just stay in one place—it bounces around, popping up wherever the system is screaming the loudest.
We don’t just ask how you’re feeling—we ask how you’re functioning. Because feeling “fine” doesn’t mean your system is actually working right. You can flip on a light and it works… until it flickers, dims, or burns out altogether. The problem isn’t always the bulb—it’s often the wiring behind the wall.
That’s why we use data. It’s the bridge between how you feel and how your body is really operating. Our INSiGHT scans help us see what’s happening under the surface—how your nervous system is firing, where stress is building up, and what needs to shift. Once we map that out, we’re not guessing. We know exactly where to adjust so your body doesn’t just feel better—it functions better.
Once we started making adjustments using our TriChord Method™—focused on her nervous system—everything changed. The jaw pain didn’t just go away. It stayed away. Her sleep got deeper. Her energy stopped crashing halfway through the day. That tight, anxious feeling in her chest? Gone.
This is what happens when you address the system, not just the symptom. It’s why people get excited to finally drop the stack of supplements. To stop chasing every new “hack”—the red light, the sauna, the cold plunge, the latest peptide—and finally feel like themselves again.
Not because they’re managing symptoms – because they’re actually healing.
So back to that question—how many chiropractors does it take to change a lightbulb?
Wrong question.
Maybe you’ve been talking to the wrong kind of chiropractor. A lightbulb one, rather than one who checks the wiring—a nervous system chiropractor. This specialized approach can be hard to find, which is interesting, because these are the very principles chiropractic was originally founded on.
We’re not here to change the lightbulb. We’re here to fix the wiring.
And when we do, the whole house lights up.
