What’s The Story On Run Clubs In Austin? Stay Tuned To Find Out

We’re starting a project where we profile two running clubs a month. Each group offers something different. How does it all connect? We’re setting off to find out.

By Cory Mull – July 12, 2026

There is no formal research on the nation’s foremost city for run clubs.

Maybe it’s Austin. Maybe it’s Miami, Los Angeles, New York, or some other metropolitan area.

But the truth is, running clubs are everywhere nowadays.

Austin has, by our count, over 75 clubs and over 100 runs within the city limits every week. On any given day of the week, there’s a run for you: whether you’re looking for good pain, good grief, a HAF workout, one with Christ, powered by plants, or one that’s outside.

These groups have become ritual to those who attend: for the workout, sure, but also maybe also for the social standing.

And for the tribes that are built.

Some clubs are sponsored by brands, others are activated by product, the rarest few are even driving business around merchandise and events.

Which brings us to our larger point: This month, we’re setting out to profile the running clubs that define our city.

With a market saturated by running clubs and the people who attend them, we want to get to the heart of why they matter. So, this month we will begin our journey toward building a guide of running clubs in Central Texas.

Bringing Into Focus

We aim to tell their stories: how they began, who their people are, and why their members keep coming back for more.

More importantly, we will be running with these clubs, too.

We hope you follow us, and catch every dispatch.

Our plan is to profile two running clubs a month, starting this week with our story on Founders Run Club.

Let us know what you think.
