Covid 19 Update: 8-12-2020: POSTPONED UNTIL 2021
DAR apologizes that you might of received an e-mail by mistake on the Disco Triathlon the other day. It was an automated e-mail that was set up weeks ago assuming everything would be on schedule for the event. We were wrong as the virus continues to cause problems and to that end after consulting with park officials, who must adhere to government restrictions and prioritizing the safety of all participants, we regret to announce that both events have had to be postponed until 2021. Instead of making both events virtual we would rather wait and plan two awesome events next year. We really thought moving Texasman Triathlon entries to the Disco Tri would be enough time to circumvent COVID 19 and Disco would be on schedule… wrong!
Looking at 2021 if you signed up for the TexasMan Tri , then you will be automatically transferred to next year's date of Sunday May 2, 2021 and if you signed up for the Disco Tri, then you will be transferred to next year's date of Sunday September 19, 2021. If you signed up for both, then you will be transferred to both the 2021 TexasMan Tri and Disco Tri.
As a registered participant you do not need to do anything except change the date on your calendar. DAR will automatically move you to next year's date. The pandemic has been a challenging “adventure” for everyone but postponing both events is the right decision.

Covid 19 Update: 8-8-2020: DAR has been checking with Park Officials on a weekly basis and right now they are following the Government restrictions of mass gatherings of 10 or less. Next week we will look at all options available to us and make a decision if we will be able to have the event as planned.
Covid 19 Update: 8-1-2020: We are closely monitoring and working with the local authorities, and the Texas Department of State Health Services. We are following the Government regulations and restrictions. Right now mass gatherings are 10 people or less. Hopefully by September that number will increase to 500 or more. If we are unable to hold the event because of Covid 19 then we will look at other options available to us. It’s too early to make any calls and will have a better idea over the next 3-4 weeks. Right now the event is moving forward as planned. Thanks for all your support and understanding as we work together in this unprecedented time. Safety is our number one priority.

While some of our other races are more competitive, Disco is without a doubt our most popular. It's simple… Gold chains, big hair, polyester and silk, a KILLER race course, a beach start and a finish next to the lake.
We offer three distances at Disco.
Sprint: 500 yards open water swim, 17.6 mile ride and 3.1 mile run.
Olympic: 1 mile open water swim, 23-mile ride and 6.2 mile run.
X-50: 1 mile open water swim, 40 mile ride, 9 mile run.
– All have a spectator friendly beach start
– The bike ride has a couple of “Texas Hills”
– The run is awesome! Runners enjoy a tree lined state park route.
Please note, the cut off time for the X-50 course is 1:30 pm. If you are unsure you can complete the course by this time, please register for the Olympic or Sprint distance.
Disco Sprint Distance:
Swim - 500 yard open water
Bike - 17.6 miles
Run - 3.1 miles
Disco Olympic Distance:
Swim - 1 mile open water
Bike - 23 miles
Run - 6.2 miles
Disco X-50 Distance:
Swim - 1 mile open water
Bike - 40 miles
Run - 9 miles
There will be a relay team option for the Olympic and X-50 distances. Relay teams require 3 participants either all male, all female or a combination of both! There will be a first place award for the fastest team for each distance.
There will be an Aqua-bike division for the X-50 distance. Awards are one deep for female, male and co-ed for each division.
For those not interested in awards, Disco Tri offers a wet-suit non eligible award division for the Sprint, Olympic, X-50 and X-50 Aquabike division.
You won’t be alone at Disco. You’ll have a thousand fellow athletes joining you on the course, along with tons of spectators to cheer you on and join us on the dance floor to do that boogie thang! Costumes welcome.
