What Exactly is a “QR Code”?

By Sarah – November 4, 2011

We’ve talked about them, you’ve heard about them and you’ve mostly likely seen them: QR codes. So what exactly are these latest and greatest codes of the future? QR stands for Quick Response, which is appropriate because the 2-dimensional barcode is designed to be de-coded at high speeds. The information within a QR code can be made up of any type of data (binary, alphanumeric, etc.) – so basically it is coded language, often linking to a website. QR codes can be scanned using a QR scanning device on most smart phones.  RunTex, with the help of Austin Fit Magazine, has recently launched a QR code campaign in which they are giving away FREE iPhone cases along with providing videos, workouts and more. These QR codes can be found at Ladybird Trail at the two cooler stations. More information about this campaign can be found here, check it out!
