12 Days of Fitmas: 2021

Ho! Ho! Ho! The holidays have arrived! The time of joy and lights also brings fun events and deals that all Austinites can enjoy. Take a trip through AFM’s 12 Days of Fitmas to discover numerous opportunities to celebrate the holidays. 

On the first day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… a Downtown Festival Stroll!

Downtown Austin Alliance hosts its annual Downtown Holiday Stroll where Austinites can gather to exercise their voices with caroling, stretch their legs by walking through the large market of art and food, and dance to live music. The event will take place between 5 and 10 p.m. on Dec. 4.

On the second day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… a 5K and Kids K Sights & Sounds Holiday Race!

Running through downtown and one of the Historic Districts is Sights & Sounds of Christmas’ Santa’s Jingle Bell Run. The adult’s 5K starts and finishes at the San Marcos Plaza Park while the kids’ 1K travels through the Sights & Sounds festival. The race will take place on Dec. 11 from 9 to 11 a.m.

On the third day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… a ballet dance workshop!

Ballet Austin is bringing back their annual holiday dance workshop this year to the iconic Christmas song “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. Release any tension and stress and engage your inner holiday spirit by dressing up in Santa hats and jingle bells and learning fun choreography on Dec. 13 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. 

On the fourth day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… 12 Days of MOD Fitness Challenge!

Take on MOD Fitness’ annual 12 Days of Fitness Challenge for a chance to enter different giveaways each day with another local business or a special sale at MOD Fitness. The challenge runs from Dec. 6 to 17, and those who participate will receive bingo cards with activities and goals to complete throughout the challenge.

On the fifth day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… free outdoor yoga!

Swift Fit Events offers free GROUNDED YOGA every Sunday to Dec 19. Come to the Austin Fareground’s outdoor plaza where mats, towels and water will be provided, but register for a free ticket online first!

On the sixth day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… a holiday fitness party!

Release your inner holiday dance spirit with Monica Landois’ Jingle Glow Dance Fitness Party at 7 p.m. on Dec. 21 and 22. Jam out to classic and iconic holiday music while exercising your heart, lungs and legs.

On the seventh day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… Family Camp with the YMCA!

Spend time with your family outdoors with adventurous camp activities like canoeing, archery and ziplining at YMCA Camp Moody’s Winter Family Camp. Camp runs for three hours from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Dec. 20, 21, 28 and 29.

On the eighth day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… pilate class bundle deals!

Pure Pilates Austin plans to host a handful of discounted classes, holiday deals and other treasures throughout the holiday months, but currently offers their discounted class pack. Purchase 50 classes as a bundle for savings over 40% between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31.

On the ninth day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… a Virtual Fun Run 5K!

Run a short three miles from virtually anywhere – throughout parks, on a treadmill or past city monuments – from Nov. 27 to Dec. 31 to participate in this virtual event and receive a swag bag and other goodies. Austin Trail of Lights hosts this Fun Run annually but has changed the course to online to promote safety throughout COVID-19.

On the tenth day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… Rooftop Ice Skating!

On top of the Whole Foods on North Lamar Boulevard, families, couples and singles can skate and practice balancing on the frosty rooftop skating rink hosted by CultureMap. The rink is open from late November to late January.

On the eleventh day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… Fun Luminated Walks in Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center’s Texas Arboretum!

Luminations at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center offers an evening experience of lights, food and drinks, and a playground between Dec. 2 to Jan. 30 on Thursdays through Sundays. Take a nightly stroll to get your steps in, or bring your kids to play on the Fortlandia playground while enjoying the holiday spirit.

On the twelfth day of Fitmas, my true love gave to me… a BOGO sale of Float Spa gift cards!
