Family Clean Water Festival
Start: Sunday, March, 28th 2010 at 10:00 am
End: Sunday, March, 28th 2010 at 2:00 am
Description:
Join us for a fun, FREE day of learning about the Colorado River and the lakes of Austin. Festival activities include science experiments, fishing and kayak clinics, reptile and river bug shows, arts and crafts, games, and much more. Presentations will teach about the geology of the river, the river ecosystem, and water science. This year’s event will also include educational door prizes, ‘green’ vendors, and live music provided by local musicians on the beautiful grounds of the Wilkerson Center. Plus, parking is free!

Come out on March 28th to promote conservation, protection, and appreciation of Austin’s lifeline, the Colorado River. Interested in volunteering? We’re looking for individual volunteers of all ages, corporate groups, and scout groups to help make these events a reality! Simply email contact@coloradoriver.org to learn how you can help!

When: Sunday, March 28, 2010 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Where: The Wilkerson Center for Colorado Education at the LCRA Redbud Center. Located at 3601 Lake Austin Blvd. near the intersection of Lake Austin Blvd. and Redbud Trail in West Austin.

Contact: To volunteer, host a non-profit booth, or sponsor, or for information, please contact Sarah Richards at 512.498.1587 or contact@coloradoriver.org.

Why: Current record drought conditions and continued population growth in Texas, including Central Texas, puts added pressure on the need for reliable water resources. Now, more than ever, there is a real need to increase science education and environmental stewardship in the state of Texas. The population is expected to double in the next twenty years, putting tremendous stress on natural resources, and, in particular, Texas rivers.

About: The Colorado River Foundation (a 501c3) promotes stewardship and protection of the Colorado River through youth conservation and education programs, river cleanups, and awareness projects.
