Contest Rules
Each restaruant may submit only one entrée, so please give us your best!
Entrée is defined as an entire meal, including "sides."
Eligible entrees must meet the following criteria:
- No fake food (flavors, sweeteners, preservatives)
- Any grains used should be whole, and service size is 1/2 cup (cooked quantity = 3-4 oz)
- No trans-fat or hydrogenated oils (recommended nuts, seeds and avocado fats)
- Incorporate lean, low, or reduced fat protein sources (plant-based proteins, nuts, meat, dairy) - serving is the size of a deck of cards
- No added sugar or sweeteners (recommend using non-concentrated juices)
- No more than 1/4 teaspoon (575mh) sodium
- Colorful plate

Dear Austin Restaurateur,
The Mayor's Fitness Council (MFC) is interested in supporting you in your efforts to provide healthy options to our Central Texas Community. Our goals are to:
- Make healthy options part of your menu
- Help you capture the emerging market of "health conscious" people in Austin
- Provide healthy meals that still reflect the unique quality and taste your customers seek and expect
To that end, we would like to invite you to participate in a citywide healthy entrée contest. Highlights of this contest include:
- Submitted entrées that meet the MFC criteria will be featured and promoted online and through local news media
- Entrées will be voted on by Austinites and a group of celebrity food critics
- The top 10 tastiest healthy entrées will be featured in a cook-off on May 12, 2012 at the Mexican American Cultural Center.
- We strongly encourage entries that might fit into one of the following categories: Kids Food, Fast Food, Tex-Mex, Southern Cooking, and Other
