OUTLAW
TRAIL 100
On Saturday, Oct. 9, Round Rock hosts its 17th annual Outlaw
Trail 100. Although the race isn’t a competition, it
does have more than 600 cyclists from Texas riding across
Williamson County. The bike tour features 10-mile, 25-mile,
40-mile, 50-mile, 63-mile and 100-mile loop courses on county
roads. Meet at 8 a.m. at Old Settler’s Park, located
at 3300 East Palm Valley Blvd., off Highway 79. For more information,

TEXAS HILL COUNTRY
RIVER REGION CLASSIC
This sixth annual bicycle classic claims to have the steepest
hill climb and descent of any central Texas ride. While it
can be an event for the seasoned cyclist looking for a serious
challenge, it is also a wonderful family excursion. Enjoy
the breathtaking hill country views and numerous scenic river
crossings from Oct. 8 to 10, with events kicking off on Oct.
8 at Garner State Park’s Shady Meadow Camping Area.
On Oct. 9, there will be four routes ranging from a 34-mile
cruise to a 100-mile challenge. For more information, call

RIDE FOR THE ROSES
Through the years thousands of people from all parts of the
U.S. and abroad have joined cycling legend Lance Armstrong,
celebrities and cancer survivors on a ride through the Austin
Hill Country. Starting at the Travis County Expo and Heritage
Center, Ride For The Roses offers distances ranging from six
to 100 miles. It is suitable for individuals of all cycling
levels and lasts from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 17. For more

WURST RIDE
Head from Austin to New Braunfels in the second annual Wurst
Ride on Oct. 30. A 100K ride is featured in the Metric Century
Bike Ride and a 50K jaunt makes up the Metric Half Century
Bike Ride. After riding through the Texas Hill Country, the
final destination will be the Wurstfest, along with a celebration
in Landa Park sponsored by Rudy’s Country Store and
BBQ. This ride is associated with Texas Bicycle Coalition
(TBC), with $1 of each rider’s registration fee going
to support the TBC Bicycle Safety Program. All other proceeds
will benefit the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation. The race
begins at 8 a.m. at Texas Parks and Wildlife Headquarters
