Children’s Day At Art Park
Children can experience the magic of the arts at Children’s Day Art Park, Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Symphony Square (located at Eleventh Street and Red River). This exciting summer program features local musicians, dancers, storytellers, magicians, mimes and craft people. Youngsters can visit the Instrumental Petting Zoo, where they can see, touch and play with different instruments, talk to symphony musicians and hear them play their instruments, watch a Ballet Folklorio, as well as hear a country and western band. They also can follow a real pied piper along the Lemonade Trail to the Magic Oak Tree and try their hand at different art projects under the art tent. Taste Of Austin
The Central Texas Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (C.F.S.) hosts their annual fundraiser, Taste of Austin, on July 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Design Center of Austin (located at 3601 South Congress). Dubbed “a celebration of cinema and cuisine,” attendees will be treated to a star-studded evening of fine dining, music, silent auctions and a celebrity impersonator. Last year’s event drew over 400 people and raised $7,000 for Cystic Fibrosis medical research, clinics and programs.
