Shiner B.A.S.H.
It’s time to tune up your bikes and get in shape for the Seventh Annual Shiner Bike Austin – San Antonio – Houston (B.A.S.H.) on May 15 at 7 a.m. More than 3,000 cyclists will participate in the 90-mile ride, which will benefit the American Lung Association. The Austin leg will leave from The Met Center, located at 8201 Riverside Dr. The other routes will leave from San Antonio and Houston and take riders through small towns and scenic byways on the way to the historic Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas.
Along the way, riders will find rest stops with refreshments and cheering crowds to keep the energy level high. Once in Shiner, showers will be available for the riders so they can enjoy the festivities on the brewery grounds. Up and coming Texas musicians will provide live music, massage therapists will be on hand to soften sore muscles and cold beer will be flowing — each rider’s first two beers are on the house. Visitors and riders can enjoy a little more Shiner hospitality by taking a free tour of the Spoetzl Brewery. The party goes on until 6 p.m., when riders can catch a bus back to their starting city. Fees are $45 for online registration, which closes on May 13, $50 for all other registration and $15 to ride the bus back home. Spectators can join the party for $25.
