Mas o menos 100k
The wild and crazy gang at Desert Sports in Terlingua is hosting this fun ride from Feb. 19 through Feb. 21 just seven miles west of the Terlingua ghost town. Come out for two days of fun rides and a Saturday full of mountain bike endurance racing in the desert. Accommodations will be primitive camping, at $10 per tent, and will open on Wednesday, Feb. 18. There will be cash prizes for solo men’s and women’s course records. Registration fees for individual fun rides are $15 for both days and $10 for a single day. Choose from 1 1/2- to five-hour loops on Feb. 19 and 20 before the 100K on Feb. 21. Preregistered fees are: $85 for solo 100K riders; $160 for relay teams; $150 for solo tandems; and $260 for tandem relay teams. Preregistration fees include entry to the 100K event, an event T-shirt for each rider, day-use entry to the C.A.S.I. site, and all fun rides. Tour de coupland
Meet Feb. 7 at 9 a.m. at the park and ride lot approximately half a mile north of Highway 95 and Highway 290 (in front of the high school baseball field) in Elgin. These rides of 24 or 53 miles through flat, slightly rolling terrain are quite suitable for novice riders. The long route goes through historic Coupland. Feast on Elgin sausage afterwards. to hill and back
This Feb. 8 ride begins at 9 a.m. and gives riders fantastic views of the Guadalupe and Blanco river valleys with a few Texas-sized hills thrown in. Ride lengths are 11, 32, 48 and 65 miles. Riders will meet at Blanco High School. Take Highway 290 west to Highway 281. Go south (left) on 281 to Blanco. Turn right in the center of town on FM 1623 and park in the high school lot. lake victor vector
Meet at 9 a.m. on Feb. 14 in Bertram at Bertram Elementary School on FM 1174 and 2243, half a mile north of SH 29 on the right, for rides of 26 to 55 miles. Ride the gentle hills of the Edwards Plateau all the way to Lake Victor (where’s the lake?). Plenty of cattleguards, hills and very little traffic, combined with lots of beautiful scenery make this a memorable ride. For more information, contact Guy at (830) 693-2442.

Mt. Gainor goners
Meet at Mt. Gainor Inn, located on Prochnow Road between Dripping Springs and Wimberley on Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. Take Highway 290 west from Austin toward Dripping Springs. Head four blocks west of the Ranch Road 12 light, and turn left on Creek Road. Then go 2.2 miles to Prochnow Road. Turn right on Prochnow Road and the Mt. Gainor Inn is on the right — 2.6 miles down the road. Enjoy rides of 20 to 40 miles with a multitude of other options available. For more information, contact Scott at 892-3079.
