FERTILE HOPE 5K
Fertile HOPE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients faced with infertility, has partnered with the Lance Armstrong Foundation to host the Fertile HOPE 5K and Kids’ 1K on Feb. 1, with food, festivities and fun for the whole family. All proceeds from the event go to Fertile HOPE in support of its cancer and fertility awareness and education programs. The race will start and finish at Maude Cafe, located at 2608 W. Seventh St., with the 5K beginning at 9 a.m. and the Kids’ K beginning at 10 a.m. Registration fees are $20 for the 5K before Jan. 25, $25 on Jan. 25 until race day, and $10 for the Kids’ K. CUPID’S CHASE 5K RUN/WALK
The Ninth Annual Cupid’s Chase 5K run/walk will take place Feb. 7 in Georgetown. The race route will involve both paved and off-road elements and is a U.S.A. track-and-field-certified course. The race will start at 8:30 a.m. on San Gabriel Village Boulevard at the Interstate Highway 35 access entrance, and ends at Blue Hole Park. The entry fee is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and children if paid on or before Feb. 1. After this date, the fee is $20. Race-day registration is $25 for all ages. This 5K is a great way to warm up for the Motorola Marathon or get the family involved on race weekend. Registration is $15 for adults and $10 for kids until Feb. 7; $20 for adults and $15 for kids from Feb. 8 to Feb.13; and $25 for adults and $20 for kids on race day. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14 at Auditorium Shores on Riverside Drive. Race packets can be picked up at Run-Tex, located at 422 W. Riverside Dr., beginning Feb. 11. The Motorola Marathon will take place Feb. 15 at 7 a.m. Participants can run or walk the full marathon or half-marathon. Until Feb. 8, registration is $100 for the full marathon and $50 for the half marathon. Packet pick-up and late registration for the half marathon only will be held at the Runners’ Expo at the Palmer Events Center, located at 900 Barton Springs Road. The expo is free and open to the public on Feb. 13 from noon to 7 p.m. and Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no race-day registration or packet pick-up. Participants in the full marathon will receive a T-shirt. In addition, results can be transferred to the Boston Marathon. This year, a pasta dinner will be held at Spaghetti Warehouse, located at 117 W. Fourth St., on Fri., Feb. 13, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dinner tickets are $10 for kids ages 10 to 13, $15 for all those over age 13, and all kids under 10 eat free and do not require a ticket. With each dinner ticket purchased you will receive a moto wristband which will waive your cover at the prerace party in the Cedar Street Courtyard across the street from the Spaghetti Warehouse.
