Q: My back has been hurting for years and none of my health care practitioners can find anything wrong in my X-rays, MRI’s or all of the other tests that they’ve done. Do you have any suggestions?
A: Take this easy test: Stand in front of your mirror. If you notice that one shoulder is higher than another or your head leans slightly to one side or your waist line is higher on one side, then your problem is most likely tightness in the soft tissue of your body. What is likely happening in your case is that you have restrictions in your fascial system that have not been detected and are not being treated. Fascia is tissue that surrounds and infuses every muscle, nerve, blood vessel and bone in your body and it travels down even to the cellular level, making a three-dimensional web throughout the entire body. Restrictions in your fascial system cause pain, restricted range of motion and, over time, postural distortions. But these restrictions don’t show up on the expensive hardware like X-rays and MRIs. Only a trained myofascial release (MFR) therapist can identify restrictions and get to the real source of your problem. Fascial restrictions only worsen over time, so I encourage you not to delay seeking help from a qualified professional.

Q: My eyes are looking more and more tired, with bags and wrinkled, sagging skin on both the upper and lower lids. What Cosmetic procedure is the most appropriate for this Condition around the delicate eye area?
A: Blepharoplasty is a type of cosmetic eyelid surgery, with the goal being to remove excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure can eliminate conditions that give an individual a tired appearance, such as the wrinkled folds of skin on the upper eyelids, bags under the eyes, and/or saggy eyelids. Some patients prefer only the upper or the lower eyelids be done, while others choose to reconstruct all four eyelids. The procedure is almost always performed under local anesthesia in a day-surgery setting. Oral and intravenous medications can be administered to relieve tension and allow relaxation. In addition to standard surgical options, lasers are often used for the removal of excessive tissue.
