LAKE VICTOR VECTOR
Meet in Bertram at 9 a.m., March 8, for Austin Cycling Association (A.C.A.) rides of 26 to 55 miles. To get there, go 10 miles northwest of Liberty Hill on Highway 29, near the new City Hall on Vaugh. Ride the gentle hills of the Edwards Plateau all the way to Lake Victory. Plenty of cattleguards, hills and very little traffic, combined with lots of scenery, make this a memorable ride. For more information, call Steve at 260-0943.
THE PRIMAVERA AT LAGO VISTA
Enjoy one of the true Tour of Texas Classic Road Races on both March 8 and 9 around beautiful Lake Travis. The rolling and twisting course through the Lago Vista neighborhood attracts racers from all over the country, Mexico and Canada. The climbs are not long but some are steep and wear the groups down, lap after lap. The racing schedule is the same for both days, and you do not have to race both. The entry fee is $25. CREEDMORE CRUISE
Join the A.C.A. 9 a.m., March 9, for rides of about 25, 50 and 69 miles in rolling to flat countryside southeast of Austin. The longest ride goes all the way to Lockhart. Check out the African animals at the TDC landfill on the way back. Meet at Williams Elementary School at Mairo and Blue Valley Drive, one block east of South First Street and six blocks south of William Cannon Boulevard. HUTTO - COUPLAND
Meet at the new elementary school on the northeast side of Hutto at 9 a.m., March 15, for a Texas Cycling Association ride. To get there from Highway 79 in Hutto, go north .6 miles on FM 1660 and turn right on the county road at the edge of town. These intermediate level rides of 25 and 50 miles are through mostly flat, but always windy, terrain. For more information, call Harm at 345-7293.
LOST PINES
Meet at the courthouse square in Bastrop at 9 a.m., March 16, for A.C.A. rides of 27, 36 and 48 miles. These scenic and challenging rides wind through the pine-carpeted red clay hills of Bastrop and Buescher State Parks. Be ready to climb. For more information, call Stuart at 326-4707.
THE ROSEDALE RIDE
The Ninth Annul Rosedale Ride will start at 8:30 a.m., March 22. at the Samsung Austin Semiconductor, located at 12100 Samsung Blvd. The ride benefits the Rosedale School, which provides educational programming for students in the Austin Independent School District, ages 3 to 22, who have significant medical, physical and cognitive disabilities. Last year’s race was attended by a record-setting 1,500 people, and raised approximately $40,000. Registration will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m on race day.
