THE WURST 5-MILER
The New Braunfels Running Club hosts this 5-mile run and walk on Saturday, Nov. 2. The walk will be held at Landa Park and begins at 8 a.m. The kids’ run will start at 9 a.m. All participating children will receive a special medallion. Each runner will receive a T-shirt and complimentary tickets to Wurstfest as well as to the post-race party. Enjoy activities after you reach the finish line such as music from Oma and the Oompahs, sausage courtesy of Kiolbassa Provision Company and door prizes from Runner’s World magazine. Packet pick-up and early registration will be held at Roger Sole’s Sports in San Antonio, Oct. 27 to Oct. 30, and at Mckenna Sports Fitness in New Braunfels, Oct. 27 to Oct. 31. Race For The Cure
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Yoplait Yogurt present Race for the Cure, the largest annual run/walk in Austin, on Nov. 2. Support breast cancer research and make a difference by participating in this race beginning at 8 a..m. at Auditorium Shores. A coed walk/run will begin at 8:05 a.m. as well as a 1-mile Komen Kids and Family run/walk. After the race, enjoy an expo and entertainment for the whole family. This year the race will feature a tribute wall to honor those who have lost their fight with cancer as well as those who continue to battle this disease. Information packets are available at the following Foley’s locations: Barton Creek Mall from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 24; Lakeline Mall from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 25; and Highland Mall from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 26. Motive Bison Stampede
All proceeds from this half-marathon and 5K fun run will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by raising funds for blood cancer research and patient services. The race will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Motive’s headquarters, located at 12515 Research Blvd., Bldg. 5, on Nov. 16. The 5K will not be timed. Registration fees are $15 before Oct. 31, $20 from Nov. 1 through Nov. 15, and $25 on race day. The half marathon fees are $30 through Oct.31, $35 from Nov.1 through 12, $40 from Nov. 14 through Nov. 15, and $50 on race day. Pick up packets at Run-Tex Riverside and Run-Tex Round Rock during store hours. After the race, music will be provided by Dysfunkshun Junkshun. Turkey Trot
Before you partake in your Thanksgiving feast take a trot to help others at the 13th Annual Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot. This 5-mile run or walk will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 27 at Waterloo Park. Proceeds will go to Caritas of Austin, whose mission is to fight homelessness and hunger. The kids can enjoy the Stepping Stone Kids’ K run as well as a moon bounce. Packet pick-up and registration will be held Nov. 25 and Nov. 26 at the Run-Tex Riverside location, and at Waterloo Park on the day of the race from 7:30 am. to 9 a.m. Registration fees are $19 for timed and $16 for untimed on or before Nov. 21, $23 for timed and $20 for untimed after Nov. 21.
