The Free 2012 Austin Yoga Festival is October 27-28

By Press Release – October 25, 2012

The second annual Austin Yoga Festival opens this year at the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Road Austin, TX  78704) from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 and continues from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on October 28.  Bring a yoga mat to participate in yoga classes, enjoy presentations and demonstrations, listen to live music, and win drawings for yoga gear, among other events.

The Austin Yoga Festival was formed to celebrate the traditions of yoga by bringing together Austin's finest yoga teachers as well as regional and national yoga presenters. The 2012 line up includes Sadie Nardini who’s been featured in Yoga Journal, The New York Times, and Glamour.   In addition to Nardini is “Ultimate Yogi” DVD master teacher Travis Eliot, Mike Matsumura, L.A.’s top studio owner and Beverly Hills yoga teacher Andrea Marcum, and Austin yoga leaders Mehtab and Siri Bahadur.  There will also be alternative and holistic wellness providers who will be offering free acupuncture, health screenings, and other services.  The Austin Yoga Festival aims to raise awareness of the benefits of yoga and provide a family-friendly space to learn about and practice yoga.  While you are there, listen to discussions by wellness providers, watch the films, shop among eclectic vendors, listen to live music, enjoy healthy food and beverages, chant, sing, and, of course, have some fun.

The Austin Yoga Festival benefits the Capital Area Food Bank and Community Yoga, along with special guests the Amala Foundation and the Global Seva Challenge.

Two days full of over 40 yoga classes, workshops, information sessions, films, discussions, and live music have been scheduled.  Also included are LUNAFEST activities on Saturday night (see website for details).  Activities under the “Canopy” are FREE and in-depth yoga workshops are offered at a special rate.

Everyone, whether new to yoga or a life-long practitioner, is encouraged to attend. Come learn something new about the health benefits of yoga; try a new style of yoga, discover the depth of yoga traditions, or simply enjoy a weekend outdoors with friends and family at a healthy and family-friendly festival.
