“This is like Christmas in July,” said Felt National Sales Manager John Georger. “I’ve never seen our sales reps more excited about a product line. The technology looks incredible and the colors and graphics are going to blow people away.”
The meeting agenda included classroom presentations on the first day, with topics ranging from the latest breakthroughs in carbon fiber technology to 2010 marketing plans and administrative strategies. On day two, the venue moved from a conference center to Felt headquarters in Irvine, Calif, where Felt’s road, mountain bike and lifestyle product managers offered detailed presentations of 2010 bikes in a fun, casual setting that encouraged interaction.
“It’s exciting stuff,” said Dick Brink, a Felt sales representative from Cleveland. “Everyone knows this is a really challenging time in terms of the economic outlook, but Felt is proving they’re serious about continuing the momentum in 2010. The product looks great, and the super-competitive pricing indicates that Felt is in touch with the consumer mindset right now.”
Highlights of the new product line include fresh new graphic packages in all categories; a variety of advanced new carbon fiber construction techniques for both road and mountain performance bikes; the most complete line of Felt mountain bikes ever (including the popular Nine series 29-inch-wheel bikes); and an expanded offering of creatively designed Felt cruisers.
Sales representatives also had a chance to provide market feedback to the engineers and product managers that steer the brand.
“This meeting isn’t just about handing over the new product to our sales reps,” said Felt President Bill Duehring. “It’s a two-way conversation between the people who are creating the products and the people who are out there on the front lines interacting with our dealers and customers day in and day out.”
One of the most useful components of this year’s sales meeting was a series of hand-on clinics addressing technical topics such as aerodynamic technology and mountain bike suspension. Sales reps viewed new how-to videos that have become an important component of Felt’s dealer support system. After the viewing, the reps practiced assembling advanced technological products such as the Bayonet 2 steering system featured on Felt’s TT and triathlon bikes.
Felt dealers can expect to see and hear more about the 2010 product line from sales representatives later this summer.
