HOW IT WORKS
In an endless search to find the best workouts in town, Monica Brant-Peckham has agreed to be our “guinea pig” and take them on full force. Every month we’ll feature a new trainer and a different set of workouts for our readers, in the process trying to Kick Mo’s Butt!

THE WORKOUT
"The Need for Speed" - An “Old School” Track Workout
Phase 1 Warm-up: 800-meter jog; high knees, butt kicks, backward run, high kicks and walking lunges; high knees over hurdles, under and over hurdles; stretch
Phase 2 Workout: 2 x 300 meters at 47 to 53 seconds (rest 60 seconds); 3 x 150 meters at 23 to 28 seconds (rest 45 seconds); 4 x 50 meters full-out sprint (walk back recovery) 4 x 20 meters; resistance tow; Abs: 3 x 10 Moe’s ROCKS.
QUESTION AND ANSWER
Did you get your butt kicked?
YES. As always, these coaches go out of their way to kick my butt! LOL.
Did you ever feel over-exerted?
Exerted in a good way.
What was the hardest part of the workout?
Just sprinting all out since I haven’t done that in awhile. I do sprint workouts now and have been for years, but going 100 percent is different than even just at 75 to 80 percent speed.
What part of your body did it work the most?
I would have to say legs overall.
Were you sore the next day?
Yes, in my core (awesome core exerices!), quads and glutes.
Was the workout mentally or physically tough?
Physically.
Was it fun?
Yes sir! Coach Moe has a smile on his face and a spring in his voice. He’s full of life.
What was your favorite part of the workout?
Almost beating Alex Earle in the 50. :)
Your least favorite part?
Actually none of it. I love a track workout all the way around; have since junior high!
The most challenging part?
Just keeping the legs moving during the last couple of all-out sprints.
Would you do the workout again?
Absolutely.
What movements did you learn for the first time?
‘Moe Rocks’ — ab movement, loved it!
Could you do the workout alone?
Yes, but it would be pretty hard to get that 100 percent unless you have the push from another sprinter next to you. Maybe the camera helped too. Ha!
How effective was the trainer?
Very effective.
What from the workout would you recommend?
Coach Moe and his ability to train clients at the track. I think people forget or just don’t realize how fabulous sprinting is for the body.
Any parting thoughts?
Stay Fit, Love Life and God Bless U!!
