To be fit in Austin is pretty open-ended. Whether you’re a yoga enthusiast, running fiend or hardcore cyclist, there’s a niche for all of us. We take that into consideration every year when compiling our “Austin’s 10 Fittest” list. You’ve spotted them at the gym, on the trail, at local restaurants or at city council meetings. Some new, some returning heroes, everyone earned a place through their discipline and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle.

RYAN NAIL
26 Years Old

A former tailback, Arnold Schwarzenegger fanatic and beloved owner of CoreFit Training preaches a simple mantra to his boot camp devotees: “Reaching your health and fitness goals is 1 percent physical and 99 percent mental.” Nail is certifiable proof of this — a smiley, savvy and iron-willed ball of energy, who’s been able to take his charisma, positivity and grit and overcome everything from a learning disability to the loss of his best friend en route to starting his own business. Today the real rewards for Nail’s efforts are the transformational accomplishments of his clients. “To see them push forward with hard work and determination is why I get up excited at 5 a.m. every morning. When clients come to me with tears in their eyes because they can finally fit back into their favorite pair of jeans or they just completed their first triathlon, that’s what life is all about. Those moments are what ignite a fire of passion that spreads into all aspects of my life.”

Q + A
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVITY IN AUSTIN?
I love riding my Harley-Davidson through the hills of Austin as the sun sets. It's a one-of-a-kind experience.

TO YOU, WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE “FIT?”
Fitness isn't how much you can bench or how far you can run. It's the combination of strength, conditioning and core. True fitness is when you can use functional strength not just in everyday life but when it counts.

WHAT DOES YOUR REGULAR EXERCISE ROUTINE CONSIST OF?
I run four to five miles then hit the gym for an hour. Then I go straight into core training, all back-to-back, five days a week. That doesn't include the nine to 13 miles I put in running with all of my boot camps and clients in a typical day.

WHAT ARE THREE THINGS YOU WISH YOU WERE BETTER AT?
Singing, “chip-n-putt” and salsa dancing.

WHY DO YOU THINK YOU’VE BEEN NOMINATED AS ONE OF AUSTIN’S 10 FITTEST?
I have devoted and loving people who support me. My mom has told me that in life you have people who are in the audience of your life and you have people in the balconies who cheer you on. It’s thanks to all of the people in the balconies of my life.

CRYSTAL MCREYNOLDS
25 Years Old

If you’re looking for some inspiration to get back on track with your workouts, then look no further than CrossFit trainer Crystal McReynolds. Garnering more votes than anyone in our contest this year, McReynolds is not only a fierce competitor (she placed an impressive ninth at the 2009 National CrossFit Games in July) and a dedicated coach (“I love being a motivator, helping people gain new confidence in themselves and change their lives by elevating their fitness levels”), she’s also a remarkable fitness success story in her own right. “My senior year of college I had a little too much fun, wasn’t working out enough and wasn’t eating properly,” she says. “But since starting CrosssFit, I’ve lost 12 percent body fat and seven pounds.” Even now, after transforming her body and achieving a level of fitness most of us dream of, she maintains specific goals for improvement. “My definition of being ‘fit’ is being able to execute functional movements at high intensities and have a sound body, mind and spirit,” she says. “All in all, I want to be able to compete at an elite level given a wide range of activities and come out on top.”

Q + A
WHAT ARE YOUR SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM FITNESS GOALS?
“I’d really like to drop another three percent body fat, place in the Top 5 in the 2010 CrossFit Games and run a 5K in under 22 minutes.

WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
Carey Kepler. She is a great example of how to inspire and motivate people as well as be a wonderful mom and friend.

NAME YOUR FIVE FAVORITE “HEALTHY” FOODS.
Tuna, sweet potato chips, eggs, almond butter and turkey sausage.

DESCRIBE YOUR DIET IN LESS THAN 20 WORDS.
Paleo/Zone diet consisting of meat, veggies, fruit, nuts and seeds. There’s no sugar, little starch, supplements and lots of water. I measure and weigh all of my food.

WHY DO YOU THINK YOU’VE BEEN NOMINATED AS ONE OF AUSTIN’S 10 FITTEST?
I’ve worked very hard over the past two years to be at the top of my fitness game. I had a goal to compete and be within the top 10 at the CrossFit games and I made that happen. I’ve put in a lot of blood and sweat to get fit!

MONICA BRANT-PECKHAM
38 Years Old

World-famous figure competitor and regular contributor to Austin Fit Magazine, Monica Brant-Peckham is a female fitness icon with loyal fans everywhere. She made her first appearance as a cover girl for Muscle & Fitness Magazine in November 1994 and has since built an illustrious career including winning the coveted IFBB Fitness Olympia in 1998 (equivalent to what Arnold Schwarzenegger won in bodybuilding) and has appeared on a whopping 100+ health and fitness magazine covers. These days, Brant-Peckham keeps her body in tip-top shape by doing sprint workouts and weight training a couple times a week, as well as running through the hills around her house in Lakeway almost every day. “Of course I’m also busy getting my bootie handed to me with the ‘Kick Mo’s Butt’ workouts from various trainers around Austin,” she says. It’s all part of what makes her physique one of the most celebrated in the world. “I am by no means perfect,” she says. “But I am perfectly happy with where I am physically.”

Q + A
WHAT ACHIEVEMENT(S) ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR LIFE?
I'm not so much proud of this achievement, but it’s an honor to know I have so many fans who appreciate what I do and look to me for motivation!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVITY IN AUSTIN?
Unfortunately I don't have too many activities in Austin that don't include working out! I travel so much, but occasionally I get to spend some fun time with my husband and friends, usually at home or at a restaurant. I definitely need to carve out more fun times in Austin to take advantage of all this great city has to offer.

WHAT ARE YOUR MOST PROFOUND FITNESS ACHIEVEMENTS?
First, sprinting a quarter mile under 58 seconds during the mile relay in high school. Our relay time is still unbroken to this day at my old school. Secondly, would have to be performing a “fitness” routine for two minutes with gymnastics and dance on stage, having not been a gymnast/dancer during my childhood.

NAME YOUR FIVE FAVORITE "HEALTHY" FOODS.
Old-fashioned oatmeal, jasmine brown rice, chicken, salmon and broiled orange roughy.

DAVID GARZA
33 Years Old

Successfully pulling off a three-peat as one of Austin’s 10 Fittest, personal trainer David Garza is the only person to appear on our list more than once. Not bad for someone who, by his own admission, “was once very overweight and led a pretty unhealthy lifestyle.” In fact, with Garza’s third nomination in as many years of the contest, he’s got to be one of the most sought-after health and fitness personalities living in Austin today. None of this comes as much of a surprise though when you watch him train his clients or chat with him for more than five minutes. Charming and even a bit goofy, he’s one of the sweetest, most engaging and inspiring guys you’ll ever meet. “I feel I‘ve been able to motivate people in a positive way,” he says. “I try to create a fun, challenging and energetic environment, so people can enjoy their workouts and be proud of what they’ve accomplished in their time with me.”

Q + A
WHAT ACHIEVEMENT(S) ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR LIFE?
Being a dad, making the Austin Fit Magazine “Top Ten Fittest” three years in a row and continuing to excel in my athletic pursuits.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER SOMEONE WHO IS UNMOTIVATED?
Make small changes in your lifestyle so that working out doesn’t become a chore but something you look forward to. Make short-term and long-term goals so that you have a purpose to your workouts. Realize that you’re working on improving your health and life, and that working out is fun. Be positive and enjoy your workouts!

WHAT ARE THREE THINGS YOU WISH YOU WERE BETTER AT?
Not being so hard on myself, swimming and managing my time.

DO YOU COOK MOSTLY OR EAT OUT?
During the day I usually just have energy bars or protein smoothies at work; in the evenings we generally eat at home.

IF YOU COULD PICK FIVE INGREDIENTS FOR THE PERFECT MEAL, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Egg whites, cheese, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers.

PAM LEBLANC (EDITOR’S PICK)
45 Years Old

As the Fit City columnist for the Austin-American Statesman, Pam LeBlanc is usually on the other side of the health and fitness beat. Considered one of the most popular journalists in town (particularly when it comes to matters of exercise), LeBlanc has made it a point to practice what she preaches. “I’ve been swimming with the Team Texas Swim Team three or four times a week since 2001, plus I swim at Barton Springs during my lunch hour one day a week, year-round,” she says. “I run two or three times a week, ride my bike to work once a week and water ski once or twice a week during the summer.” Each Monday, her column reveals the best places and activities Austin has to offer those looking to get into better shape; especially those who want to enjoy themselves in the process. “I hope [my column] helps people realize it’s fun to get fit, and it doesn’t have to be the same every day. If you don’t like running, try hula dancing, or water skiing or the flying trapeze. It’s all about making sure it’s something you look forward to, not dread.”

Q + A
TO YOU, WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE “FIT?”
Being fit doesn't have to mean you're a star athlete. It means you make your health a priority. You set aside an hour or so every day to move, you eat a lot of stuff that's as close to the form Mother Nature intended as possible, and you challenge yourself to learn new things even as you grow older. (I learned to run a slalom course when I turned 40; I ran my first marathon at 44.)

WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
My husband Chris. He's my anchor. He keeps me steady and when I get stressed out he tells me, "Why don't you go for a swim. That way we'll all be happier."

NAME YOUR FIVE FAVORITE “HEALTHY” FOODS.
Spinach, swiss chard, blueberries, black beans, tofu.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT IN TOWN?
Korea House, Foodheads, Maudie's, Casa de Luz.

WHAT INSPIRES AND MOTIVATES YOU TO IMPROVE?
I just want to stay active and enjoy life outdoors as long as I possibly can. The way I see it, the best way to ensure that I can hike when I'm 75 years old is to swim, bike, run and water ski now.

PATRICK TERRY (EDITOR’S PICK)
51 Years Old

Who knew burgers and fries could be so healthy? Apparently Patrick Terry had an inkling when he opened his first P Terry’s burger joint four years ago on South Lamar. Whether offering whole wheat buns, burgers wrapped in lettuce, fries cooked in 100 percent canola oil or all-natural angus beef, P Terry’s has taken the concept of “fast food” and made it a whole lot fitter. Since the start, there’s been an almost insatiable demand for this special brand of burgers and fries, prompting the opening of a second (much larger) location on North Lamar this year, and construction is already underway on a third. With all this growth, Terry’s entrepreneurial spirit could have easily outpaced his ability to stay in shape, but the once avid runner who used to worked out six days a week still makes time to exercise. “I just try and get to the gym as often as I can. I feel so different when I work out; my energy level and attitude just change. These days, I’ll do at least half an hour on the elliptical, 300 sit-ups and some weight lifting…but I do a lot of talking in between.”

Q + A
IF YOU HAD TO PICK THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Laid back, motivated, forgetful.

DO YOU HAVE KIDS? IF SO, HAS HAVING KIDS AFFECTED YOUR ABILITY TO STAY IN SHAPE?
I have one child, Kate, who is almost a year and a half. She absolutely never stops, so I’m constantly on the move; just not the workout I ever imagined.

WHAT ARE YOUR MOST PROFOUND FITNESS ACHIEVEMENTS?
I’ve run some 10Ks in pretty decent times, but the fact that I’ve consistently stayed in shape for almost 30 years probably wins the prize.

WERE YOU EVER REALLY OUT OF SHAPE?
Absolutely. I was overweight in junior high and to some extent in high school and college. I made a point in my early 20s to reverse that trend.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT ARE FIVE IMPORTANT CRITERIA FOR STAYING HEALTHY?
First, you can’t smoke. Second, what you eat. No amount of working out will save you if you’re eating crap every day. Third, exercise. I don’t think you have to be a Joe Atlas, but you‘ve got to get your heart rate going. Fourth, how much alcohol you drink has a huge impact on how healthy you are or will be. Fifth, coping with mental stress and trying to put your personal and professional life in perspective.

KIRK WATSON (EDITOR’S PICK)
51 Years Old

State Senator, half- marathoner, cancer survivor and parent to a child with type-1 diabetes, Kirk Watson takes health and fitness as seriously as any issue facing the Lone Star State. “My son is a type-1 juvenile diabetic and dealing with his disease has actually taught me more about nutrition, the role of exercise and how it all helps us stay fit,” he says. Often seen running around Lady Bird Lake (20 or so miles each week), Senator Watson makes a point to wave, shake hands and even chat with his constituents as part of his regular morning workout. It’s his own way of acknowledging the dedication of so many Austinites when it comes to health and fitness. “Running on the Lady Bird Lake trail is my favorite place to work out,” he says. “It’s wonderful to see so many folks individually working out in a place that seems to connect people to each other.”

Q + A
WHAT INSPIRES AND MOTIVATES YOU TO IMPROVE?
Wanting to be as good as I can and meet the expectations, confidence and trust so many people have put into me.

LIST SOME KEY EXPERIENCES THAT HAVE GOTTEN YOU TO THIS POINT IN YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS?
Surviving cancer, my wife's focus on health and fitness, Preston's diabetes and running a few half marathons.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT ARE FIVE IMPORTANT CRITERIA FOR STAYING HEALTHY?
Exercise as much as possible, discipline, a plan that won't burn you out, avoid obviously unhealthy eating, drinking and other bad practices, and have good genes and good luck.

WHY DO YOU THINK YOU’VE BEEN PICKED AS ONE OF AUSTIN’S 10 FITTEST?
A typo. Someone thought they were nominating me for one of Austin's 10 Fattest. Although, I'm guessing someone saw my really great legs in running shorts.

WHAT THREE “UNHEALTHY” CRAVINGS SEEM TO HAVE THEIR HOLD ON YOU?
Red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing from the Cupcake Trailer, almost any kind of cereal at about 9 p.m. and, if I'm driving, I have to close my eyes as I pass Dairy Queens to avoid stopping for a chocolate covered ice cream cone.

TATUM REBELLE
27 Years Old

A certified personal trainer and founder of Total Mommy Fitness, Tatum Rebelle has made it her business to prove just how beneficial fitness can be for pregnant women. “I worked at a gym for years before I had my first pregnant client,” she says. “It scared the heck out of me because I’d heard all the myths and fears about prenatal exercise. I did a lot of research and became so fascinated that I quit the gym and started Total Mommy Fitness.” Believe it or not, with all her expertise in the field, Rebelle still doesn’t have kids. “I feel like it sometimes since I work with moms and kids, but none of my own just yet,” she says. Her pre- and post-natal fitness programs are geared towards first-time moms preparing their bodies for pregnancy, all the way to moms who feel their exercise and nutrition routines have reached a plateau. “Being a small business owner can be stressful and exhausting at times, but when I get feedback that a client is feeling better about themselves and making healthier choices I know I’m doing exactly what I was put on this earth to do,” she says. “I can't imagine anything better.”

Q + A
WHAT ARE YOUR MOST PROFOUND FITNESS ACHIEVEMENTS?
In my eight years in the Army, I was awarded in fitness each place I served, and was chosen to represent my unit in an Iron Soldier competition. I was always stationed with mostly males, and had the top fitness test score in places like basic training, drill sergeant school and leadership training (PLDC). I'm proud of that because it didn't come easily. It was a tough environment to be in, so I worked my butt off to prove that I deserved to be there.

WHAT DOES YOUR REGULAR EXERCISE ROUTINE CONSIST OF?
Doing something everyday no matter what. Sometimes it's a walk or jog with the dogs, other days it's a high intensity workout at the gym, and on really busy days it's a few minutes of pushups and squat jumps to get my heart rate up when I can squeeze it in. My workouts are not very structured, but they are consistent.

WHAT ARE THREE THINGS YOU WISH YOU WERE BETTER AT?
Staying organized, time management, singing.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER SOMEONE WHO IS UNMOTIVATED?
Start small, find a hobby, remember that every little bit counts – it doesn't have to be all or nothing.

DO YOU COOK MOSTLY OR EAT OUT?
I’m vegetarian so I cook mostly, but I'm not a recipe follower. I usually just throw whatever I have together and hope for the best. Most the time it turns out well, other times it's a little disastrous.

CHRISSIE NOVAK
30 Years Old

Owner of Austin T3 (Austin Team Triathlon Training) for the past six years, Ironman competitor and former collegiate athlete Chrissie Novak has taken her passion for health and fitness and translated it into a rewarding career. “Since I was about 13, working out and being fit has always been a big part of my life – from swimming in high school and college to running and competing in triathlon for the past 8 or so years,” she says. Now with Austin T3 she offers year-round, group triathlon training for those looking to excel in the sport or just stay fit. Her programs emphasize form, technique and efficiency, but more importantly, they offer an inviting, team-oriented environment for anyone wanting to get into better shape. “Through my business I’ve been lucky enough to become a mentor to a lot of people who care about fitness and recognize the importance of a healthy lifestyle; and I’m grateful because they are the ones who largely nominated me.”

Q + A
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER SOMEONE WHO IS UNMOTIVATED?
Don’t do it alone. In my experience, the key number for a training group is three. Find two friends, with similar goals and ability, and train together. Tell them what you want to achieve and they’ll help you stay on-track; accountability is key. Also, recognize multiple motivations for why you want to be fit – because on any given day, a single motivation might not be enough to get you going…but, if you have a list, you’ll probably find one that will get you moving!

WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
My mom because she gives more than she takes.

WHAT ARE YOU FAVORITE PLACES TO EAT IN TOWN?
Galaxy Café, Whole Foods and Thundercloud Subs.

WHAT DOES YOUR REGULAR EXERCISE ROUTINE CONSIST OF?
I train between one and three hours each day during the week; on the weekends I do a long bike ride of about three to four hours and a long run for about two hours.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT ARE FIVE IMPORTANT CRITERIA FOR STAYING HEALTHY?
First, balance – not doing too much of anything. Second, mix it up – it’s good for your mind and your body. Third, nutrition – eat to fuel your body; and take your vitamins! Fourth, keep it fun by exercising with friends . Lastly, have a positive outlook and attitude.

MIKE ROSENTHAL (EDITOR’S PICK)
32 Years Old

Mike Rosenthal is not only one of Austin’s 10 fittest, but at six feet, seven inches, he’s probably also one of Austin’s 10 tallest. A lifelong athlete and former NFL offensive tackle for the New York Giants (from 1999 to 2002), the Minnesota Vikings (from 2003 to 2006) and the Miami Dolphins (in 2007), Rosenthal now resides in Austin with his wife Lindsay (a former collegiate volleyball player) and their four children. Together they own and operate 1379, a quaint Tarrytown clothing shop that sells athletic wear for active kids. For Rosenthal, keeping up with his kids is probably all the exercise he needs. “My priorities have changed. I realize now that it’s not all about me,” he says. “I no longer have two hours in the middle of the day to go to the gym and train. I do bits and pieces here and there but mostly chasing my kids at the playground, swimming and kickball in the front yard are my new workouts.”

Q + A
WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
Laird Hamilton. I once saw this picture of him holding one of his kids standing on his palm with his arm straight out…on a beach in Hawaii. Plus, who wouldn’t like surfing all the time.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT ARE FIVE IMPORTANT CRITERIA FOR STAYING HEALTHY?
Eating right, getting enough sleep, enjoying each minute of every day, enjoying the people you share your life with, and perfecting the phrase “yes, dear.”

WERE YOU EVER OUT OF SHAPE?
I’m always in shape for some things and totally out of shape for others.

LIST THREE KEY EXPERIENCES THAT HAVE GOTTEN YOU TO THIS POINT IN YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS?
Breaking my foot five years ago showed me to take nothing for granted; moving to Austin and seeing how many people see health and fitness at the core of this city’s values; losing Jack & Adam’s Rookie Triathlon to my wife (I didn’t know they timed the transitions!).

WHAT DOES YOUR REGULAR EXERCISE ROUTINE CONSIST OF?
Pushing my kids up the hill when they can’t pedal any further on their bikes, throwing my kids in the pool high enough to touch the backstroke flags, and running away from my wife when she’s asking for money.

YOU (THE READERS) HAVE SPOKEN
Thanks to the more than 2,000 of you who voted this year. Here’s just a tiny sampling of the very passionate endorsements you made while submitting your nominations this time around.

MONICA BRANT-PECKHAM
12 percent of the total vote

“She has been in shape for more than a decade, if not more. She does not fluctuate, and ALWAYS looks good. She never yo yo's or has any challenges with her weight, and remains in shape on a CONSISTENT basis. I have followed her for years, and frankly she is my hero and personal inspiration.”

“Being in her business and maintaining her workout and food routine is hard. You want to just quit some days but you push forward. I nominate her just for her perseverance and focus.”

“She's inspired me for many years! She's 100 percent devoted to her fitness career, she gives it her all...not only is she the fittest but she's also the nicest as well. She is a kind hearted individual.”

“She has made clean eating, and working out her lifestyle. She is constantly challenging herself with new types of workouts and promoting nutrition to anyone who will listen. Austin is lucky to have Monica as resident!”

“She inspired me to get back into shape. When I think about giving up, I think about Monica so I have no excuse.”

“Monica has balance!! She is physically fit, mentally fit and spiritually fit. She’s a fabulous example and inspiration to all!”

CRYSTAL MCREYNOLDS
15 Percent of the Total Vote

“She's extremely motivated, very generous with her time, and has a great "never quit" attitude. She takes training seriously, but doesn't take herself too seriously. She's the first person to do something silly in the middle of a hard workout: a handstand, a bear crawl, anything to break the tension and remind us that training is playing, too. She lifts heavy, runs fast and eats like the champ she is.”

“She’s able to use her fitness for real world activities, such as lifting things over her head or filling sandbags. I would put her up against Lance Armstrong any day of the week in a gravel shoveling contest.”

“Crystal defines elite fitness. She’s constantly working to improve the lives of others and exemplifies what true dedication to a fitness program can give you. Her enthusiasm for exercise is hard to match, and I have yet to meet someone who HASN'T experienced massive results training with her.”

“I love coming to her classes because I know she'll continue to push me to work hard, to see her smile and upbeat attitude and to see what super stylish workout gear she'll be flaunting. She is super committed to her own progress and views any 'weakness' as an opportunity to grow and overcome. She is extremely educated about fitness and is truly passionate about helping others meet their goals. I'm lucky to have her as a coach!”

TATUM REBELLE
5 Percent of the Total Vote

“She’s proved to have the self-discipline to work hard and accomplish goals as a drill sergeant in the Army as well as her own training business without virtually any family or other means of support. She is dedicated to her own well-being as well as that of others. She exemplifies a healthy young women looking out for the interest of herself to be the best she can be!”

“She inspires me to work out with her relentless energy and positive attitude. She is hard-bodied and approachable, not a combination you find everyday. “

“Equal parts tough and encouraging, Tatum’s doing all she can to motivate moms toward ultimate fitness goals. You just won't find a better person inside and out.”

“By far the best trainer in Austin. She meets you where you are — even if that means meeting you and your two toddlers in the park — and encourages you every step of the way! The best part is that she can back up everything she asks you to do, because you know she can do it too.”

RYAN NAIL
6 Percent of the Total Vote

“I've been to nine different trainers in my life, and Ryan is the best. He's in a different class altogether. “

“He has the stamina, physical strength, mental strength and determination to do anything. He works harder than anyone I know to accomplish and overcome any obstacle that he encounters. He gives others the will to want to be in as good shape as he is.”

“This guy's health is not simply something on the day's “to do” list, but a consistent way of life. His positivity and infectious enthusiasm make him both comfortable and encouraging to be around. Try one of his boot camps on Lady Bird Lake if you don't believe me!”

“Ryan always gives all he's got when training himself and others. He not only shows me how to do new workouts that I've never seen before, but works out with me every time to ensure I'm always giving 100 percent.”

“Ryan is really passionate about health and fitness. He truly walks the walk, and when his clients get results, he feels just as much joy for them as they feel for themselves.”

CHRISSIE NOVAK
8 Percent of the Total Vote

“Coach Pain leads by example. She never asks her athletes to do some anything she doesn't do herself. She makes us all want to be better athletes.”

“Chrissie excels at everything physical that she endeavors. She is also an excellent coach and motivator for others around her.”

“Chrissie is a great example and motivation for all her athletes of what hard work will give you as a result. As a coach she always helps you push yourself and makes you want to be better at whatever: swimming, cycling or running.”

“She exemplifies health and fitness on a daily basis and encourages me to be the best I can be. She's an outstanding triathlete and the best “coach” I could ask for. I will compete in my first Ironman next month and couldn't have done it without Chrissie's guidance and encouragement. She's been there to push me and to consult me when I was injured.”

“She is an amazing person — always putting others first in both professional and personal activities. Chrissie is always encouraging, motivating, positive and inspiring. Even with her success as a coach and athlete she remains one of the most humble and genuine people I know.”

“Not only is she the fittest person I know, she is the most knowledgeable when it comes to the sport of triathlon and all of the aspects that go with it (nutrition, hydration, recovery, tapering, etc.).”

DAVID GARZA
13 Percent of the Total Vote

“He's bouncing off the walls, all over the place. I never see him fatigued and he works out more than I can comprehend. He's in amazing shape and motivates me to do more myself.”

“David’s the only guy who can teach a conditioning class, then ride his bike to go play a soccer game.
I really believe David must have a battery pack hidden somewhere on him, because the man never stops. Not only is he the fittest person I know, he's one of the most genuine and friendly people I’ve ever met. His personal mantra is ‘inspiration through example,’ and I don't know anybody who embodies the spirit of that more.”

“An inspiration to all he comes in contact with — both with his physicality as well as his personality. He’s living proof that a healthy and fit way of life is the foundation of happiness.”

“David is strong in all aspects of fitness, but the best part is his energy to inspire individuals not give up on ourselves. His classes are always packed arm-to-arm and people always leave with more energy and exuberance than when they came.”
